Often, our small rural towns in need of investment lack the internal capacity to develop local projects and access grant funds to complete them. To help these communities, the State of Vermont launched the Municipal Technical Assistance Program (MTAP). Through this program, VCRD is able to offer free facilitation and technical support services to more towns to help them review assets and needs, and prioritize projects to advance for their future vitality and prosperity. We can also provide connections to consultants and partners that offer free help with grant-writing, permit applications, regulatory compliance, and other technical assistance along the way.
Which communities are eligible?
The State developed a Capacity Index to determine which municipalities might benefit from this program: if your town is on this pre-approved list, we can work with you to determine how this program might help. If you’re not on this list, we might still be able to offer assistance, so reach out either way!
What Types of Projects Can MTAP Assist With?
- Water infrastructure
- Sewer infrastructure
- Housing
- Community recovery, workforce development, and business support
