Montpelier, VT – Environmentalist, entrepreneur, journalist and author Paul Hawken will be the keynote speaker at the Catalysts of the Climate Economy: National Innovation Summit, (cc:econ). The National Innovation Summit is a three-day event being held in Burlington, VT September 6-8. The Summit will bring together leaders from across the country who are working to build economic solutions to climate change.
Hawken joins investment leaders Jigar Shah and Danny Kennedy, leaders from Ben and Jerry’s, Patagonia, Seventh Generation and other key companies, utility leaders, town and city leaders, inventors and engineers and policy leaders, all creatively developing economic solutions to climate change.
Starting at age 20, Paul Hawken dedicated his life to sustainability and changing the relationship between business and the environment. His practice has included starting and running ecological businesses, writing and teaching about the impact of commerce on living systems, and consulting with governments on economic development, industrial ecology, and environmental policy.
cc:econ also announced a special Vermonter rate for the National Innovation Summit. While the National Innovation Summit strives to engage national partners in this event and the work forward, Vermonters – and their entrepreneurial spirit – are critical to the conversation. Registration for Vermonters will be just half of the full Summit rate.
